There are a few former San Francisco 49ers who are set to be free agents. Will a possible reunion with one or more of them become a reality?

In the current landscape of the league with NFL free agency, players are constantly changing teams. It is very rare these days a player stays with one team his whole career, and the San Francisco 49ersrecent trade of their former top pick from the 2016 NFL Draft, 2018 Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, is a prime example of this.

The Niners have some players who have left to sign with other teams but are still deeply adored by fans. One recent player who is always mentioned in those conversations is running back Frank Gore, who spent last season with the Buffalo Bills.

Although Gore has played for several other teams after leaving the 49ers in 2015, he is still regarded as a fan-favorite in the Bay Area. Any chance for Gore to return to the team is met with positive reactions.

And many, if not all 49ers fans, want Gore to return and retire as a 49er at some point down the road.

There are, however, some other players who have left on bad terms or maybe just left on neutral terms, and fans and the team never really looked back. But sometimes players like that become available down the road, and a reunion with them makes sense for both parties.

As NFL free agency kicked off on March 18 for the upcoming 2020 NFL season, several former Niners will be available on the free-agent market.

Who might we see make a return to the red and gold?
