No. 5: Cincinnati Bengals

Barring the incredible, the Cincinnati Bengals are going to select former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

But after boasting one of the league’s worst defenses last season, it wouldn’t be an entire shock to see the vast majority of Cincinnati’s remaining picks used to address the defense. Defensive tackle Geno Atkins is getting up there in age, and this year’s draft class isn’t completely stockpiled with upper-level defensive line talent.

At No. 32, the Kansas City Chiefs may be looking to replace defensive tackle Chris Jones, who’s poised to hit free agency and will command top dollar. If the Bengals are looking at a first-round talent along the defensive line and fear the Chiefs will beat them to the punch, trading up two spots doesn’t sound like too bad an idea.

The Bengals own their full array of picks in this year’s NFL Draft, but no more beyond that. Moving up two spots might only command a third- or fourth-round selection, but that’s capital the 49ers could use.

Especially considering Cincy is picking early in each round.
