In 2019 the San Francisco 49ers had several practice squad players with big potential. Who are some of those players that could make an impact in 2020?

As the 2019 NFL preseason came to a close, and the San Francisco 49ers had to make their final cuts en route to their finalized 53-man roster, many tough decisions came along with that.

The top 40 or so players who made the roster were pretty obvious. No surprises there. But as it got down to the last handful of players to make the roster, some decisions could’ve gone either way.

Safety Adrian Colbert was one such player many thought would be on the roster at the start of the season. He had a promising rookie year in 2017. But his 2018 season was cut short due to injury and he was sent to injured reserve. Fans of the 49ers were hoping to see him make a triumphant return in 2019, but that return never happened as he didn’t make the roster.

Defensive end Damontre Moore was another player who seemed to have a good chance of making the 49ers roster in 2019. He had an impressive showing in the preseason but didn’t make the final cut.

However, due to injuries along the defensive line, he was re-signed in November of 2019. He appeared in two games before injury sent him to the IR.

Having too much talent is never a bad thing for a team during the preseason. Having tough decisions on who to cut and who to keep is a sign of good talent evaluating. It means a team found depth pieces at multiple positions.

If teams are lucky, the players they cut may clear waivers and, if eligible, can be signed to their practice squads. And the 49ers had a practice squad full of extremely talented individuals last season.

Who are some of these players that spent 2019 on the Niners practice squad who may have an impact in 2020?
