49ers NFL Draft plans: 5 second-round picks to target in 2020
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers already met with the No. 1 prospect on this list, TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor, so there’s already a modest level of interest.
Reagor had himself a good enough NFL Scouting Combine performance, running a 4.47 40-yard dash with a vertical leap of 42 inches. But considering elite-level speed was considered his best trait coming into the combine, one could look at his efforts as slightly underwhelming.

And given his 5-foot-11 frame, it’s easier to understand why some teams probably have him labeled squarely as a day-two target.
Plus, there were plenty of other prospects, such as Alabama’s Henry Ruggs III, who propelled themselves into first-round consideration, some even within the top 10.
Still, Reagor has a lot of upside the Niners could enjoy. And Kyle Shanahan has never prioritized size over speed and route-running skills.
While the combine speed wasn’t eye-popping, Reagor’s in-game speed is excellent. His route running and yards-after-the-catch abilities are also well towards the top of draft prospects. Those are the attributes Shanahan and Co. would easily be happy with.
So, if Reagor winds up dipping into the early phases of Round 2, it wouldn’t be shocking at all to see the Niners pull the proverbial draft trigger.
