With the San Francisco 49ers selecting at No. 31 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, a number of prospects could have a heavy impact on what the Niners do early in Round 1.

Unlike previous seasons, the San Francisco 49ers aren’t going to be selecting towards the top in the 2020 NFL Draft.

At No. 31, the Niners are looking at a number of situations. First, general manager John Lynch and Co. can hope a top-level player continues to slip right into the team’s hands, and something like this seems to happen on a yearly basis. Second, Lynch could look to trade down and out of the pick, which would help alleviate San Francisco’s lack of day-two draft selections.

Or, assuming the 49ers are eyeing a single player they know won’t slip beyond day two, they could merely grab whoever they want, even if it means reaching a bit.

And with 31 other teams looking to cash in on a provocative 2020 draft class, the multitude of possibilities and outcomes is nearly endless.

San Francisco’s eventual decision hinges on a number of these factors, and there are certainly some players who’ll ultimately influence Lynch’s final decision. A lot of the evidence stems from what’s transpiring at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. For starters, a number of wide receivers surely impressed early, and the Niners could be looking to make upgrades there.

There will also likely be an early run on quarterbacks, as there seems to be each season. While the 49ers don’t need a signal-caller, a lot of other teams do. And that could influence what the Niners end up doing early in the draft as well.

Niner Noise takes a look at three prospects who could shake up Lynch’s draft plans in Round 1 this April.
