There are many potential players the San Francisco 49ers could select at No. 31 in the 2020 NFL Draft, but the player who makes the most sense is Wisconsin center Tyler Biadasz. Niner Noise breaks down why.

With the NFL Scouting Combine upon us, speculation is rife who the San Francisco 49ers will take this year with the choices being much more vast.

The Niners have pick No. 31 in the 2020 NFL Draft, and picking so late provides so many more different scenarios and opportunities for the team. In short, unlike last year, it’s significantly more difficult to see what direction we could see the team go in to improve its roster.

While it’s been popular to see the likes of the secondary or wide receiver be popular positions to be addressed, there’s been less attention on the interior offensive line and the plight of injured starter Weston Richburg.

Richburg suffered a torn patella in the 49ers’ thriller against the New Orleans Saints, and that is a very tricky injury to come back from. Richburg has had health issues in the NFL, and his durability is in question.

Ben Garland was fine as the new starter, but San Francisco would be wise to look at the top center prospect in the draft in Wisconsin’s Tyler Biadasz.

Biadasz is a tough, competitive center who was solid in his final year despite some backward steps in his fundamentals. However, this shouldn’t stop him from considerations late on Thursday night in Round 1, as interior blocking is more important than ever.

The Niners have had a lot of recent success getting the best out of their draftees for the most part, and for as much as Biadasz needs to grow, he has such a huge ceiling.

Statistically, there is no worse injury to return from than what Richburg is having to deal with and Garland is not a player who will be the center of the future at 31 years of age.

Drafting Biadasz makes the most sense for San Francisco. He provides an instant insurance policy and can be the center of the future. Center is a vastly underrated position, and you need the right man for the job.

As long as no red flags emerge, Biadasz should be the man for the 49ers.
