No. 3: EDGE Nick Bosa

With all due respect to the All-Pro edge rushers named to the first and second teams in 2019 — Arizona’s Chandler Jones, Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt, Tampa Bay’s Shaq Barrett and New Orleans”Cameron Jordan — a case could be made the 49ers rookie pass-rusher, Nick Bosa, should have made the team this past year.

The 2019 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year was outstanding throughout his first professional campaign, racking up 47 total tackles, nine sacks, two fumble recoveries and one of the most athletic interceptions you’ll ever see:

He also finished among the top players in the league, according to Pro Football Focus, ending the year as their No. 28 best-graded player in the entire league, with an overall grade of 86.7 on the season. He also set the record for pressures by a rookie, at least in PFF’s history (they began in 2006), creating 80 total in 2019, a number that tied him with the Los Angeles Rams’ Aaron Donald for sixth in the NFL.

It stands to reason Bosa, with a full offseason to hone his already plentiful skill set, should improve upon his rookie season and continue to be a force to be reckoned with for opposing offensive tackles.

If Bosa is able to do so, there’s plenty of reasons to think he could be rewarded a slot on the All-Pro first team in 2020.
