Tulsa cornerback Reggie Robinson II is another one of those players who could be had on day three of the NFL Draft, yet a strong NFL Combine could ultimately push him out of San Francisco’s current drafting position on the day in Rounds 5 through 7.

If the 49ers are able to acquire some third-round capital, however, the scenario changes.

At 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds, Robinson looks to be the kind of corner one would want in the Niners zone-style offense. In 2019, Robinson flashed some ballhawking traits with three interceptions, adding a whopping 13 passes defended.

Robinson might not have elite-level speed, yet his lanky frame and good size make him an excellent one-on-one matchup with most second-tier wide receivers.

On that note, veteran cornerback Richard Sherman was never known for having elite-level speed, either, and it hasn’t exactly been a burden over the course of his Hall of Fame career.

Speaking of Sherman, the 49ers need to think about eventually replacing the soon-to-be 32 year old, who’ll enter a contract year in 2020.

With fellow corners Ahkello Witherspoon and Emmanuel Moseley not exactly locking down a long-term starter status for the defense last season, one wouldn’t be shocked if the Niners tried their hands at another cornerback in this year’s draft.

And Robinson could wind up being quite the steal.
