No. 2: Wait… a Wide Receiver?

While it’s safe to say Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch won’t go after a big-money free-agent wide receiver, it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility they would go after a wide receiver who needs a change of scenery to re-boot his career.

Laquon Treadwell is a wide receiver who could use that change of scenery.

In four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, he never topped 400 yards receiving in a single season. And despite being a former first-round NFL Draft pick, Treadwell has long since been overshadowed by the Vikings’ two other big-name receivers, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

With the 49ers, Treadwell likely wouldn’t become a 1,000-yard receiver. But he would be a good piece for a Shanahan offense which gets receivers open and allows them to pick up yards after the catch.

And with any luck, Treadwell could be the perfect partner with San Francisco’s other up-and-coming wideout, Deebo Samuel. It wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility to see both flourish together within Shanahan’s system.

On the low cost, too.
