Six bold predictions for the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54
No. 2: Robert Saleh will make the Cleveland Browns regret not choosing him
In the Cleveland coaching carousel, the Browns hired Kevin Stefanski as their new head coach right after the Minnesota Vikings finished their season.
One of the coaches that was interviewed but not selected was 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh.
The same man who outcoached Stefanski badly when the 49ers eliminated the Vikings.
I won’t lie, I don’t get it. Neither did 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman when he tweeted his own disbelief at the news.
Sherman is justified. It’s a bit weird for someone who got beaten in a playoff coaching battle against a fellow candidate to get the job.
Cleveland have to Cleveland I suppose.
Saleh will have a gameplan ready for the Chiefs vaunted offense. It’ll be too much to think he can entirely shut them out, but he should be able to slow them down enough for the 49ers own strong offense to take over the game.
Should Saleh walk away from the Super Bowl with a strong coaching effort and a Super Bowl ring, he’ll be able to prove to the Browns front office that they made a mistake.
