No. 1: EDGE Nick Bosa

Nothing can take over and have a major impact on the outcome of a game quite like a consistent pass rush. Especially when going up against some of the top quarterbacks in the league, like the Saints’ Drew Brees and the Packers’ Aaron Rodgers.

More from Niner Noise

The 49ers are expected to have linebacker Kwon Alexander and defensive end Dee Ford healthy and ready to go at some point following the team’s playoff bye week.

The added depth will certainly help the Niners to have the right players on the field at the right time.

One of these players will be rookie stud Nick Bosa.

Bosa ended the year one sack short of double digits, but his play transcends his stat line. He constantly disrupts the opposing offense in the passing game.

With Ford back in the lineup, offensive lines will have an extremely difficult time consistently doubling Bosa in pass protection. It’s back to “pick your poison” time when lining up against the Niners’ relentless defensive line.

Defensive tackles DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead will continue to disrupt the interior of the line of scrimmage as well. All of this overflowing talent will be too much for an opposing offense to handle. Bosa will again be the beneficiary of the surrounding playmakers, as he was for much of the beginning of the season.

Even though Bosa’s number fell off late, I expect him to get back into form with the defensive unit getting healthy just in time to make a deep playoff run.
