San Francisco 49ers: Grading each rookie NFL Draft pick after 2019 season
By Peter Panacy
Another incomplete grade for the 49ers’ final pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, Virginia cornerback Tim Harris.
On the negative side of the selection, Harris had quite the injury history during his collegiate career, which carried over into his rookie season as the Niners put him on injured reserve with a groin injury at the end of the preseason.

Harris’ first year redshirted, one can see why San Francisco made the move, though. Third-year corner Ahkello Witherspoon was coming off a forgettable 2018 campaign, Richard Sherman was aging and the team had no clue what it was going to get from one of its other free-agent pickups, Jason Verrett.
Witherspoon enjoyed a hot start to the year, while Verrett was mostly a non-factor. Harris, especially being a late pick, was a developmental piece, potentially in line to fill some reserve roles in the next couple of seasons.
Those are important roles, though, and the 49ers can attest to it. Another cornerback, Emmanuel Moseley, went from undrafted free agent to fill-in starter this season, performing well enough to earn long-term starting consideration in coming years.
The 49ers hope Harris could potentially follow the same trajectory.
