Ranking 49ers 10 best NFL Draft picks of the decade
No. 3: EDGE Nick Bosa
2019 NFL Draft
Round 1, Pick No. 2
Edge rusher Nick Bosa seems to be the link the 49ers were missing that brings the whole defensive unit together.
There are some games this season when it seemed Bosa was disrupting the opposing offense in its own backfield on every single play. Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns and Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers are two games that come to mind.
He is second on the team with nine sacks on the year and would surely have more if he weren’t the topic of discussion in every opposing team’s offensive game plan every week.
Like with Deebo Samuel, it is clearly too early to claim Bosa is the next best thing in the league. But his rookie season has to have Niners fans hyped for the future.
Bosa is the front runner to win the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award, or at least should be.
Since he was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, he should have been the favorite to be the best defensive rookie all along, and he hasn’t disappointed one bit. Despite an injury-filled training camp, Bosa has yet to miss a game this season proving he is dependable and better yet dominant.
