The season finale is here, with the San Francisco 49ers facing the Seattle Seahawks for the NFC West and important playoff seeding. Join Niner Noise’s resident Australian as he covered the game.

  • For the San Francisco 49ers, it comes down to this.
  • Win, and the conference is theirs.

Lose and it’s one big road trip for the Niners in the playoffs.

It’s a fortress in Seattle, so a fast start is back.

  • Hey did you know Marshawn Lynch is back? I think they mentioned it one or two times.
  • One or two million, that is.

Every time they mention Lynch, take a shot.

Preferably something non-alcoholic, for legal and moral reasons I don’t want your deaths on my hands.

Here we go, Seahawks will get the ball first.

Ugh, defensive flag to start things.

Why is it when a ball is deflected in the air like that, we get intercepted and they don’t?

Well it’s a good defensive start, will the offense follow?

    I love these 1994 throwbacks.

  • Ugh, first passing play and Jimmy Garoppolo gets taken down.
  • Nice hard count, an underrated part of the skills of Garoppolo.

OK, some nice plays by the offense here.

  • Raheem Mostert got cut by how many teams again? Unbelievable.
  • Ugh, a second sack which puts the 49ers out of field goal range.

  • Well it should be enough for a field goal attempt, up to Robbie Gould here.
  • Right down the middle, early 3-0 start for San Francisco.

Not a touchdown, but it is an opening drive score.

There’s been some good pressure early by the 49ers defense. They need to keep that up.

  • What a great deflection by Ahkello Witherspoon on 3rd down. He needed that to get his confidence up.
  • Great Seattle punt, 49ers offense will have their work cut out for them here.

  • Watching Deebo Samuel is just such a pleasure to watch, he has everything you need to be a No. 1 receiver.
  • AND THAT’S WHY DEEBO IS A PLEASURE TO WATCH!

Great touchdown on the reverse, with a spin move if you don’t mind.

That was a 94 yard touchdown drive in eight plays, in the hostile atmosphere of Seattle.

10-0 to the 49ers, dream start for sure.

End of the first quarter, it was about as perfect a start as we could have hoped for.

  • BOOM! DeForest Buckner takes Russell Wilson down on 3rd down.
  • Can the 49ers go three scores up on this drive?

I’m not sure if it’s the plays getting him open or the personnel on the Seattle defense, but Deebo looks faster than everyone else out there.

  • Having George Kittle is such a big plus as opposed to the first game. He’s beyond invaluable.
  • Oooh that was lucky, Deebo almost fumbled that one.

It won’t be a first down, but it will be 13-0. Still continuing to tack on the points.

  • Ugh, Nick Bosa jumps offside on 3rd and 5 for a first down.
  • Seattle are actually driving down the field now. That offside penalty may hurt.

The big question here is would the 49ers get the ball back, and if they do can they try to score?

They do get the ball back for the second half, which is important.

That might be a big false start penalty on Seattle here.

Gee they’re taking a while to settle on things.

Great half by Garoppolo, two of his three incompletions were drops (albeit off passes that weren’t perfect).

Wilson’s ability to scramble and extend plays annoys me.

4th and inches for the Seahawks, a 49ers stop here would be a huge shift of momentum.

    LYNCH GETS STOPPED!

    That is a HUGE play!

Bosa made first contact and Lynch couldn’t get past him!

  • Matt Breida just got blown up, ouch.
  • Exactly what is under review here? The ball was forward and either he’s down by contact or it was a drop.

So it gets changed to an incomplete pass, which actually helps field position slightly since Brieda caught it behind the line of scrimmage.

So half time and it’s 13-0. It’s a big half for the team, especially with them getting the ball to start the half.

OK here we go, can the 49ers get a three possession lead on this opening drive?

Well not quite, the first couple of plays didn’t help there.

Decent punt return gives the Seahawks reasonable field position here.

That was a great ankle tap tackle by Bosa on Wilson, just not quite enough for a first down.

Lynch is starting to get back into the game now, and by extension the crowd.

Touchdown Seattle, but I think this will be holding on the Seahawks.

  • Yep, I thought I saw Arik Armstead being strangled on that play.
  • Seattle crowd wanted a late hit on Bosa there, it’s awfully cute they think Bosa was hitting anyone there.

You can’t bottle up Wilson forever unfortunately, but the situation can be salvaged if the 49ers hold them to a field goal here.

    Which the 49ers did not.

The fact the 49ers are only one possession up after dominating half the game is very unsettling.

Witherspoon was caught looking at the receiver and not the ball. You can’t allow yourself to be turned around like that.

  • I was going to type that the 49ers needed a score, but then Kyle Juszczyk just had a huge gain to put San Francisco in field goal range.
  • It was a great throw by Garoppolo, who aired the ball perfectly.

If it wasn’t for Kittle, Deebo might be my favorite player. Just give it to him and let him go nuts.

  • Touchdown! A great answer by the 49ers as Raheem Mostert runs it in!
  • 49ers going for two, trying to make it 21-7.

It looks like it was no good by a matter of inches, 19-7 to the 49ers.

Upon replay, it was a matter of inches. Like that cannot get much closer.

The 49ers defense needs to come through here, the 49ers have a chance to break it wide open.

Bosa has done a good job matching Wilson when he tries to scramble, it could prove a pivotal difference.

End of the third quarter and it’s 19-7 to the 49ers. One quarter between the team and the No. 1 seed.

Big third down here, can the 49ers stop them again?

Unfortunately not, Seattle always seem to find a play when they need just as San Francisco threaten to break the game open.

It is so grating to see the same out route being run by the Seahawks on third down. It’s been unstoppable on this drive.

  • Exactly what was Marcell Harris thinking there?
  • Lynch scores, and it’s a one possession game again.

19-14 to the 49ers, ten minutes between them and the No. 1 seed.

I do not like the idea of allowing Wilson a chance to win it.

The 49ers gameplan when they need something in the clutch is to give it to Kittle.

I think everybody agrees that this is an optimal strategy.

So this is a huge third down. A field goal makes it an eight point game, but a touchdown could make it very difficult for Seattle to come back.

Deebo is wide open! The 49ers are threatening here.

First timeout of the half by San Francisco. That the 49ers have been so long before calling a timeout to avoid a delay of game is actually quite admirable in Seattle.

TOUCHDOWN BY MOSTERT! A HUGE REPLY!

HOW MANY TEAMS LET HIM GO AGAIN!?

Both times Seattle score a touchdown, San Francisco wasted no time in getting the score back.

26-14 to the 49ers, 5:51 between San Francisco and the No. 1 seed.

  • Gee, Mitch Wishnowsky had the worst kickoff you’ll ever see right there.
  • That was NOT what they needed, but no need to panic yet.

It took under 5:24 to go in the last quarter for either quarterback to have an incomplete pass.

Seattle going to the hurry up offense now, the Seahawks have enough time to get a comeback.

I swear, someone needs to cut off Wilson’s legs. He should have been sacked easily but he keeps getting away.

  • Touchdown to D.K. Metcalf, it’s a one possession game again. Ugh.
  • 26-21 to the 49ers, why do we have to have so many close games?

  • I get so angry at unnecessary penalties, but it looked like Ben Garland had no idea what was happening with the play and just kept going.
  • 3rd and 17 here.

    Who is JUST short.

Wow, Wilson is going to have a chance to win a game.

You know, the best clutch quarterback in the NFL.

If the 49ers can get a stop, it’s probably game over.

If Seattle score a touchdown, it will be very difficult for the 49ers to win.

I really don’t like this, you don’t bet against Wilson in these situations.

Seattle driving down the field, this just isn’t a good situation to be in right now.

Big breakup by Emmanuel Moseley, that looked like it was going to be a touchdown.

Well here we go, 4th and 10.

One more play, the 49ers just need to stop Wilson for one more play to be the No. 1 seed.

    OH COME ON!

    NO NO NO!

THEY JUST NEEDED TO STOP HIM FOR ONE PLAY AND THEY DO THAT!

3rd and goal. 15 seconds to go.

Another 4th and goal. It’s down to this one play.

    WAS HE IN!

OH GOD THIS MIGHT BE ATLANTA ALL OVER!

    I THINK HE’S SHORT!!!

DID DRE GREENLAW GIVE SAN FRANCISCO THE NFC!!??

    HE’S SHORT!

    SAN FRANCISCO BALL!

    26-21, nine seconds to go.

Must be a quarterback sneak here surely. As long as you’re down by contact it’s all over.

GAROPPOLO TAKES IT OUT AND IT’S ALL OVER!

SAN FRANCISCO ARE KINGS OF THE NFC WEST!

    AND THE NFC!

    WHAT A GAME!

Oh my goodness, my heart cannot take this much longer.

Even if the 49ers don’t make the Super Bowl, this year has been such a success.

Next. 49ers capture win vs. Seahawks in Seattle for first time in 8 years. dark

From one of the worst teams in the NFL to 13-3 and the No. 1 seed despite so many injuries is amazing.

That’ll be it from me, join me next time in the playoffs!
