No. 1: The 49ers say farewell to Candlestick Park

"“It was a dump, but it was our dump” – Dwight Clark"

It was much too cold in winter, the winds was absolutely ridiculous, it was falling apart, it looked like a relic compared to flashier stadiums.

Let’s not even get started on the parking.

But it was our home. It was our home.

The “Pick at the Stick” was a fitting epitaph for a place with so much history. “The Catch” launched a 49ers dynasty here, quarterback Steve Young had his iconic moment where a legendary scramble against the Minnesota Vikings propelled the 49ers to the playoffs in 1988.

All three incarnations of “The Catch” were caught on this hallowed turf.

It wasn’t restricted to football, either. It was here, for example, where the 1989 World Series was interrupted by the Loma Prieta earthquake.

There are so many more, some may mean more to you than the ones listed above.
