No. 9: Jim Harbaugh vs. Pete Carroll

This is technically cheating as it’s more several moments throughout the decade, but they all pointed to one thing.

Jim Harbaugh and Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll just flat out did not like one another. At all. Their rivalry had several memorable moments.

Moments like from their college days, when the Harbaugh-led Stanford Cardinal shocked the college world as 41-point underdogs to defeat the then-No. 2 ranked USC Trojans, led by Carroll, 24-23, Harbaugh running up the score against Carroll in a 55-21 rout, prompting Carroll to ask “What’s your deal?”, Harbaugh straight up claiming the Seahawks were cheating or even Carroll having a sly dig at Harbaugh last month.

OK, yes, some of these predate the decade. But still.

It’s such a rivalry, there are literal video road maps devoted to it.

They finished even on victories against each other in the pros, but Carroll has the playoff edge over Harbaugh.

It won’t be with the 49ers, but maybe we could see this continue in the next decade. This time we can enjoy it as neutrals.
