No. 1: 49ers still pave their own playoff path

11-3.

This is the 49ers record after 15 weeks of football. It’s a complete turn around from their previous three seasons when they would be competing for pride and roster spots the following year. Sadly, the Seahawks have the exact same record and also hold the tiebreaker, as of right now.

But nothing is set in stone until after the final whistle of the regular season. The 49ers still have a shot at being NFC West division champions and the top seed in the NFC. With their wins over Green Bay and New Orleans, who also share 11 wins, the 49ers can win out and be ahead of all those teams.

San Francisco ends its 2019 home schedule on Saturday night against the Rams.

As mentioned in the beginning of the article, with the Rams loss to the Cowboys, the 49ers were able to clinch a playoff spot. It obviously didn’t mean much after a deflating loss on Sunday. But it’s still an accomplishment, which needs to be highlighted. The last time the 49ers were in the postseason was 2013, when former head coach John Harbaugh was at the helm.

In the 2013 NFC conference final, the Seahawks ended the “Quest for Six” in dramatic fashion. In 2019, though, there are just as many storylines and tension, and the 49ers have a chance to claim the NFC West and top spot in the conference with a Week 17 victory in Seattle.

No matter the result of either team this coming week, the match up in Seattle will determine it all.

After their showing on Sunday at home, you can bet the Niners will be coming out the next weeks full of motivation and with a massive chip on their shoulder. They know they are the best the NFC and maybe the best in the NFL. They’ll have the chance to prove it in prime-time on Saturday night.
