San Francisco 49ers can be thankful they’ll be drafting very late in the 2020 NFL Draft, and Niner Noise dishes out a Thanksgiving-edition mock to celebrate the holiday.

There’s a lot for which San Francisco 49ers fans can be thankful this 2019 Thanksgiving weekend.

The team is 10-1 and currently sitting atop the NFC playoff picture, the Niners rank in the top five for both offense and defense, players like quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle are solidifying themselves as stars, Levi’s Stadiums is raucous and the feeling surrounding head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad is as good as it’s been in years.

And while there’s a lot of attention centered on how San Francisco finishes in the regular season, followed by what happens in the playoffs, it’s never too soon to start shifting focus to the future.

That means the 2020 NFL Draft.

The 49ers currently own just six picks for this upcoming April’s draft, and only one in the first four rounds:

  1. Round 1 (own)
  2. Round 5 (Denver Broncos)
  3. Round 5 (own)
  4. Round 6 (own)
  5. Round 7 (Detroit Lions)
  6. Round 7 (own)

The Niners shipped off their second-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs last offseason for EDGE Dee Ford, and that trade has worked out nicely. Then there was the trade with Denver for wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, which cost a third- and fourth-round pick, getting the Broncos’ fifth rounder back in exchange.

So far, that transaction has worked nicely, too.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see general manager John Lynch trade out of Round 1, but that always involves another partner. Regardless, Niner Noise plays around with our own Thanksgiving weekend mock NFL Draft, breaking down what the 49ers may do when the 2020 draft kicks off this upcoming spring.

Starting off with a trade!
