No. 2: Cornerback Richard Sherman

Speaking of name recognition, Richard Sherman is looking like he’s returned to his perennial Pro Bowl ways after his 2017 Achilles injury hampered his efforts during his first year with San Francisco in 2018.

Sherman already has a team-leading three interceptions this season, including one for a touchdown. And his 10 pass breakups also lead the 49ers’ top-ranked defense against the pass, too.

Needless to say, Sherman is proving to be the same kind of lockdown cornerback he was during his prime years with the Seattle Seahawks.

Fans will ultimately note just how good the Niners pass defense has been this season. And given the lack of name recognition elsewhere within San Francisco’s secondary, at least on the national level, Sherman will be the one player every voter will recognize.

He’ll wind up getting his fifth Pro Bowl nod after 2019 is said and done.
