San Francisco 49ers: Predicting 5 players who make 2020 Pro Bowl
By Peter Panacy
With the NFL opening up voting for the 2020 Pro Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers are likely in good position to send a number of representatives. Here are Niner Noise’s picks.
A year ago, the San Francisco 49ers sent three players — tight end George Kittle, fullback Kyle Juszczyk and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner — to the Pro Bowl.
With the Niners now sitting at 9-1 and still boasting one of the league’s best defenses, there’s an argument that number will grow significantly when the next Pro Bowl roster is finally announced for the exhibition game in early 2020.
One could make the argument the majority of San Francisco’s starters on defense could get the nod. Second-year linebacker Fred Warner has proven to be invaluable, and his 70 tackles entering Week 12 rank 35th best among all defenders. Cornerback Richard Sherman also vouched for fellow corner K’Waun Williams, who has mostly gone unheralded outside of Niners circles this season, to be included in the Pro Bowl, too.
But there’s a bit of name recognition required to earn the accolade, at least as far as the starters. So there’s a good chance players like Warner and Williams end up getting snubbed.
Even if they otherwise deserved to go.
That said, the 49ers stand an excellent chance to send more than a handful of representatives to the Pro Bowl in early 2020. And with Pro Bowl voting finally opening up, fans will have their chance to cast ballots for their favorite Niners players.
If we had to pick five with the best chance of going, however, these players would stand the best odds at this point in the season.
