The San Francisco 49ers had their chances to win on Monday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks. And one can wonder how these five not-so-good efforts influenced the game’s eventual outcome.

Despite a flurry of mistakes on both sides of the ball, the San Francisco 49ers nearly pulled off a thrilling Week 10 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.

It wasn’t meant to be, of course, as the Niners suffered their first loss of 2019 and now sit at a still-very-much-respectable 8-1. Yet the 27-24 overtime defeat says a number of things right on the surface.

Monday’s contest was a close game. Head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad had more than its share of opportunities to pull off a victory, especially after clawing out of a 21-10 deficit entering the fourth quarter.

Still, there were too many mistakes for San Francisco to overcome. And against a Seahawks team with the likely 2019 MVP aboard, quarterback Russell Wilson, those mistakes are going to be costly if they start to pile up.

And they did.

Fill-in kicker Chase McLaughlin‘s missed overtime field goal was one such gaffe, although it’s hard to pin the loss entirely on his shoulders. He did, after all, convert on a try in the waning seconds of regulation to tie things up. His miss was a mistake, yes. But the 49ers would have ideally not put themselves in a situation where they’d have to rely on a rookie specialist signed only a few days before.

Instead, there are other performances from this Monday Night Football bout, which stood out for the wrong reasons.

Here are five Niners players who underwhelmed in the team’s first loss of 2019.
