Boy, the Lions’ Week 10 loss to their NFC North rivals, the Bears, all but thwarted any serious likelihood of Detroit squeaking into the playoffs.

Not having quarterback Matt Stafford, who was out with injury, hindered the chances. Stafford’s backup, Jeff Driskel, wasn’t exactly up to the challenge, either.

Life won’t get any easier for the Lions this week against the Cowboys, while the Bears, Vikings and Packers all loom again during Detroit’s final five weeks. And as long as Stafford is out, the Lions could continue tumbling in our NFL power rankings.

It’s looking as if the Lions will have to win out, getting some serious help along the way, to stand a chance.
