. . . Nick Bosa. 1. player. 42

While Arik Armstead has made a huge difference for San Francisco this season, there’s no getting around the fact rookie EDGE Nick Bosa has been taking the league by storm.

The Niners rank No. 2 in the league in sacks, and Bosa’s seven sacks are a big reason why. Ironically, Bosa is tied with his brother, Joey, and two other players for the seventh most sacks in 2019 so far.

And both Nick Bosa and Jacksonville Jaguars EDGE Josh Allen lead all rookies in sacks, too.

According to Pro Football Focus, though, there’s no comparison. Bosa is ranked the No. 8 overall edge rusher, while Allen is No. 63.

Bosa is currently on pace to tie the franchise record for most sacks by a rookie, set by former 49ers EDGE Aldon Smith back in 2011 with 14. It’s not hard to realize Bosa could potentially reach and exceed this mark, which is putting him in serious contention for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.

Heck, perhaps even the league’s Defensive Player of the Year. Seriously, he’s been that good.
