The Miami Dolphins will probably try to do everything they can, if tanking hasn’t done enough already, to secure the No. 1 overall NFL Draft.

But if the Bengals somehow wind up securing it, the Dolphins’ plans to tank for a franchise-type quarterback, particularly Tua Tagovailoa, would have failed. But Miami has already done so much to grab a key figurehead of the franchise over the course of 2019, passing up on a quarterback at No. 2 isn’t much of an option here.

He might not be a top-five talent anymore, but Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert is the second best choice under center to Tagovailoa.

With Herbert locked down, the Dolphins can turn their attention to giving him plenty of support and weapons with their two other picks in Round 1.

And, yes. Quarterback Josh Rosen will find himself in yet another precarious situation with an uncertain future.
