Panthers vs. 49ers: Full Week 8 preview, breakdown for San Francisco
The San Francisco 49ers look to extend their undefeated streak as they face the Carolina Panthers on their own four game winning streak. Niner Noise previews what looks to be the 49ers toughest test this season.
If the San Francisco 49ers have any more doubters concerning their legitimacy as a top NFL team, facing the red-hot Carolina Panthers could be what finally proves they belong as one of the elite teams in the league.
The 6-0 Niners have been among the best in the league regarding their running game and their defense, while the 4-2 Panthers are no slouch in that area either, with their defense performing well and their offense boasting a potential MVP candidate in running back Christian McCaffrey.
This is the first time all season the 49ers will be facing a team full of momentum and confidence. The Los Angeles Rams are the only team San Francisco has faced which is over .500, but were on a losing streak when the Niners came to town.
This isn’t the 49ers fault, of course, but the Panthers are a much different opponent than what they’ve been playing.
Every unit on the San Francisco offense and defense will need to be on the top of its game, as the Panthers will be fancying their chances of an upset.
The big story will be young Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen, who’s receiving a lot of buzz as he’s yet to be defeated in his young career.
It’s a story like San Francisco had experienced in its own young quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo.
Niner Noise takes a look at this and more in this Week 8 contest.
