3 players who underperformed in 49ers Week 7 win vs. Redskins

No. 3: Wide Receiver Dante Pettis
Speaking of Jimmy Garoppolo’s interception, one could make the argument wide receiver Dante Pettis is partially to blame.
Take a look at the pick, which was hauled in by Redskins safety Troy Apke:

Yes, the pass was underthrown. And it’s fair to blame the poor footing Garoppolo would have had. But Pettis didn’t exactly do his quarterback any favors, either, which was pointed out by NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco:
Pettis has been criticized for his lack of urgency and focus this season, and this kind of effort won’t help.
Overall in the game, Pettis was targeted just twice and didn’t impact the stat sheet at all.
With rookie wide receiver Deebo Samuel out with a groin injury, it would have been a plus to see Pettis step up as a bona fide weapon in an increased role.
Instead, Pettis was more of a non-factor than anything else.
