49ers vs. Redskins: 2019 Washington takeover, tailgate info & event schedule

After turning last week into a home game, the 49ers Faithful are invading Washington, D.C. for the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 7 showdown with the Redskins. Here’s everything you need to know — from tailgate info to all the weekend’s scheduled events — for Niner Empire’s 2019 Washington Takeover.

When the undefeated San Francisco 49ers take the field on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, the team will don their white away uniforms, but the crowd at FedExField is slated to be filled with Niner red, and not the burgundy and gold of the Washington Redskins.

However, the 49ers’ 2019 Washington Takeover starts well before parking lots open for tailgating on Sunday morning. Beginning on Friday night, the weekend will be full of events for local Niner fans and those traveling from out-of-town to attend:

Friday: Meet & Greet – TAP Sports Bar, MGM Casino National Harbor – 7 p.m.

The 2019 Washington Takeover kicks off at the TAP Sports Bar, located at the MGM Casino at the National Harbor, where you can hang out, eat, drink, and check out the MGM Casino with fellow 49ers Faithful. The MGM Mixer is free to attend, but please RSVP in advance for planning purposes.

The TAP Sports bar is located at 101 MGM National Ave, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Parking at the casino is free.

Saturday: 49ers Invasion Party – Town Tavern DC – 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Beginning at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, Town Tavern DC will host the official 49ers Takeover/Invasion Party. The 49ers organization will also be in attendance, providing giveaways to fans. This event is free to attend, but you can also purchase a $5 VIP Ticket for access to food and drink specials.

Town Tavern DC is located at 2323 18th Street NW, Washington DC 20009, and their phone number is 202-387-TOWN.

You can Uber to the bar, Metro via either the Dupont Circle or Woodley Park/Adams Morgan stops or park your vehicle at any number of local pay-for-parking garages.

Sunday: 49ers Tailgate – RV Lot/D-Green Lot | Party Bus – Town Tavern DC – 9:30 a.m.

Similar to our last game in D.C., you have three options for Sunday’s 49ers tailgate:

1. Buy a “Green Lot D” parking pass. Once the gates open, park in Green Lot D, close to the RV Lot (see the map below). Bring your own food, drinks and tailgating supplies, and tailgate along with your fellow Niner fans — just look for the 49ers flags.
2. Take the Party Bus from Town Tavern DC to the tailgate at 9:30 a.m., and back after the game. Town Tavern DC will provide all food and beer for the tailgate and the Party Bus. Reserve a spot by purchasing your $60 all-you-can-eat-and-drink ticket as soon as possible.
3. Meet the Party Bus in the RV Lot at FedExField, and Town Tavern DC will provide all food and beer for the tailgate from 10:30 a.m. to kickoff. Purchase your $30 all-you-can-eat-and-drink ticket in advance. You can either park in Green Lot D or Uber to the tailgate, although the stadium is also Metro-accessible (see the map below).

Tickets to Sunday’s 49ers-Redskins game are not included in any of the above packages, but are widely available at affordable prices on StubHub and other third-party ticket sites, where you can also purchase parking passes for the game.

Due to local casino regulations, you must be at least 21 years old to attend Friday night’s festivities. However, individuals of all ages can attend the events on Saturday and Sunday.

Feel free to invite local Redskins fans to the events as well, particularly if they are appropriately dressed.
