3 takeaways from 49ers road win over Rams in Week 6
The San Francisco 49ers continued their undefeated streak in Week 6 with an important 20-7 road victory against the Los Angeles Rams. The win puts them at 5-0, and another important win in the account for their playoff push in the second half of the year.
The San Francisco 49ers faced doubt over the legitimacy of their 4-0 record heading into this divisional opener on the road in Week 6. While the doubt may not yet be fully extinguished, the 20-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams on the road has gone quite a long way to silencing these doubts.
After what was a very rocky start, the 49ers settled and quickly tied the game at 7-7. From there it was all San Francisco.
The offense was better than the mere 20 points scored may suggest, the defense looked impenetrable and the Rams offense shot themselves in the foot often with questionable decision-making and penalties.
With a 49ers team hobbled by injuries, especially on offense, and facing a divisional rival on the road desperate to avoid falling into the middle of the pack, this was a real litmus test for the team.
Especially considering the Rams were well rested, having last played on Thursday Night Football the week prior, while the Niners were coming off a short week after their victory over the Cleveland Browns on Monday.
San Francisco responded, and now there’s little doubt the 49ers are well in not only the playoff race, but also as a favorite for home-field advantage in the NFC.
It was a great win, and now we look at the three big takeaways of the game.
