The Patriots defense in 2019 is arguably the deepest it has been in some time, and it’s no surprise New England is riding this defense to a 4-0 start in spite of some up-and-down performances from quarterback Tom Brady and the offense.

In case you were wondering, the Pats own the No. 1 defense, both in terms of scoring and points allowed, through four weeks.

Simply put, that side of the ball is fine and filled with depth to handle any attrition issues.

What’s needed is some offensive output, especially considering tight end Rob Gronkowski probably won’t come out of retirement, even if the Patriots make yet another Super Bowl run.

Missouri’s Albert Okwuegbunam is the upcoming NFL Draft’s best tight end prospect. While he doesn’t have anything close to the repertoire of talents Gronkowski had, Okwuegbunam is more than capable of helping both Brady and Belichick get more out of the offense.

And with New England’s window closing in coming years, it’s a route Belichick would be wise to take.
