The Oakland Raiders just lost linebacker Vontaze Burfict for the season, pending an appeal, after his unnecessary hit on Colts tight end Jack Doyle.

Burfict was a questionable signing anyway, and his history of egregious hits on the field means he’s someone Oakland can’t exactly trust as a key piece moving forward.

Besides, the Raiders defense needs to find even more cornerstones, after it looks to continue a rebuild before heading to Las Vegas.

There’s a decent amount of talent along the Oakland defensive line, although depth is an issue there. And while there are some concerns in the secondary still, finding a rangy and athletic linebacker to patrol the second level would be a great move for head coach Jon Gruden and Co.

Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses is arguably the top player at his position in the 2020 NFL Draft, and he has the kind of pedigree teams would seek looking to find a captain for their defense.
