No. 3: George Kittle’s run-blocking prowess stays impressive
Once again, tight end George Kittle finished a game without going over 100 yards receiving or catching a touchdown. Once again, to Shanahan and the 49ers, it didn’t affect the outcome of the game.
Kittle has quickly turned into the best run-blocking tight end in the NFL, and he’s doing it with relative ease. We already know Kittle loves putting 300-pound dudes on their backs even more than catching touchdowns.
It’s little surprise the 49ers tight end excels in areas other than catching passes, as it was a mainstay of his game at his alma mater, Iowa. Being about to do it at the level he has in the NFL is simply amazing.
As long as the 49ers continue to stack wins, it doesn’t matter much to Kittle who receives the accolades. Offensive numbers are going to come regardless for a player of his ability. That was clear last season, as he set the single-season record for receiving yards at the tight end position.
Having a 3-0 record and looking to add more after the bye this week is what’s important to this Niners team.
