SAN DIEGO, CA – DECEMBER 06: Cornerback Jason Verrett #22 of the San Diego Chargers celebrates after intercepting a pass in the third quarter against the Denver Broncos at Qualcomm Stadium on December 6, 2015 in San Diego, California. The Broncos won 17-3. (Photo by Stephen Dunn/Getty Images) /

CB Jason Verrett

I feel pretty bad putting cornerback Jason Verrett on this list, mostly because just getting on the field had to be a major victory for him after a swarm of injuries the past few years.

That said, Verrett played one drive on defense and was absolutely demolished by the Steelers.

Verrett, rehabbing from an ankle injury sustained in training camp, simply didn’t have the necessary speed to play corner. Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson exposed him for a long 38-yard touchdown:

The issue with Verrett, and this is in no way his fault, is he has a reputation as a great corner who can’t stay healthy. With reports surfacing he was finally healthy, people simply forgot he still needed to get adjusted to real action.

Verrett didn’t necessarily underwhelm the 49ers defense or coaching staff, but he certainly was underwhelming to the fans. Maybe more time getting acclimated will allow him to reach his pre-injury ability.
