L, 41-17 vs. 49ers

The Bengals suffer a notable drop in our NFL power rankings this week, thanks largely to surrendering a whopping 572 total yards to the visiting 49ers, including 259 yards on the ground.

San Francisco ran rampant over Cincinnati’s defense, doing so with relative ease and making the Bengals porous defense look a lot like it did a year ago, when it allowed more yards than any other team in the league.

Maybe this unit’s impressive performance on the road against the Seahawks in Week 1 was a mere anomaly.

The Bengals, despite having running back Joe Mixon (ankle) available, managed just 25 rush yards on the game, forcing quarterback Andy Dalton to throw a lot.

Dalton wasn’t bad, per se, and he managed to turn both John Ross III and Tyler Boyd into 100-yard receivers during the game.

Even though the majority of Ross’ yards came on a garbage-time touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Let’s see how Cincy bounces back from this one-sided debacle.
