NFL power rankings: Post-preseason 32-team breakdown before Week 1
By Peter Panacy
The Cardinals drop a spot in our NFL power rankings, as the preseason hasn’t been particularly kind to rookie quarterback Kyler Murray — the player, who forced first-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury to boot Josh Rosen to Miami.
Murray looked pretty bad in his regular-season tuneup against the Oakland Raiders, going 3-of-8 for a mere 12 yards.
Kingsbury’s offense is going to center around Murray, which could either be a good or bad thing. On one hand, Murray might wind up being one of the more electrifying offensive cast members in the NFL down the road, perhaps sooner than later.
But on the other, it’s not hard to see Kingsbury’s uptempo offense resemble what former Philadelphia Eagles and 49ers head coach Chip Kelly tried to implement not long ago.
And Kelly’s offense flamed out quickly, especially with a sub-par roster in San Francisco.
The Cardinals roster isn’t exactly good, you know.
