Stock down: FS Adrian Colbert
If this is how the 49er career of safety Adrian Colbert ended, then I feel very sorry for the man.
He wasn’t forced to sit out the game, but he didn’t see meaningful playing time at the start of the game. He was on the field during the final drive of the first half and then started the third quarter, but left the contest due to an injury to his hamstring.
He looked upset and he looked defeated — like a man who knew his roster chances were disappearing right in front of him:
Several players have walked by and checked on Adrian Colbert while he is sitting near the gatorade tubs on the sideline. He is still upset. https://t.co/Wtt4dOdiih

When the preseason began, Colbert had a chance of starting for San Francisco in Week 1 of the regular season given the weakness the 49ers have at the free safety position. However, it now looks like it will take a miracle for him to survive final cuts and make the team.
I’d rather a player get cut giving it all he has instead of an injury robbing him of his last chance.
