Stock up: DE Jeremiah Valoaga

Quite frankly, defensive end Jeremiah Valoaga has been in the faces of opposing quarterbacks so often this preseason that you could be forgiven for thinking he isn’t a journeyman pass-rusher.

Well, maybe “journeyman” is a little harsh, since it’s only his second team, but he has certainly remained on the bottom of the depth chart over his short career.

Valoaga concluded his preseason in dominant fashion, notching two sacks against the Chargers. And this wasn’t the first time he tallied multiple sack games in a game during the 2019 preseason.

While Valoaga isn’t going to start on the loaded 49ers defensive line, his amazing performances in the preseason have upgraded him from a camp body to someone with a strong roster chance.

There’s no such thing as too many pass-rushers, so Valoaga could not have done much more to put himself in consideration for the final 53-man roster.
