Stock down: WR Kendrick Bourne

Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne had a very up-and-down sort of game last night. He dropped the first pass thrown his way, but then later scored a touchdown on a diving catch.

This is pretty much typical of Bourne, who is very inconsistent while also showing flashes of his talent. The reason why he receives a stock down, however, is because he was on the field in the first place.

Bourne is competing with fellow receivers Richie James and Jordan Matthews for the two probable roster spots that are open at the position. And while his competition was off the field for the second half, this wasn’t true for Bourne.

This is a really big red flag for Bourne and his chances of making the final roster. The fact that he was the last receiver on the field who had a realistic roster shot shows he is right on the roster bubble.

There are no more games for Bourne to improve his chances, so it’s up to the 49ers’ brass to decide whether he remains on the roster in 2019.
