Honorable mentions

Matt Breida (stock up)

Caught the lone touchdown scored by the starters and finished with seven carries for 44 yards, two receptions for 31 yards and the aforementioned score. He and Tevin Coleman look like a potent duo for Week 1.

Jordan Matthews (stock up)

Needed a big game to keep in touch with the other receivers on the roster bubble, and he got it, catching two passes for 33 yards. Jordan Matthews is not a roster lock, but he’s kept himself in the discussion.

Ben Garland (stock up)

Ben Garland did struggle in previous preseason games, but he stepped it up against the Chiefs. The 49ers are desperate for interior line depth, and Garland looks like the best candidate to be a swing interior lineman.

Ross Dwelley (stock down)

At one stage, Ross Dwelley looked like the prime candidate to be the backup tight end on the roster, but his performance against the Chiefs may put that into some dispute.

Azeez Al-Shaair (stock up)

If I had to predict one undrafted free agent making the roster as of writing, it would be Azeez Al-Shaair. Al-Shaair was all over the field and has had an altogether impressive preseason.

The promising thing for Al-Shaair is that the 49ers lack significant linebacker depth, so he could sneak onto the roster easily. At worst he should be one of the first people signed to the practice squad.

Emmanuel Moseley (stock up)

Speaking of lack of depth, Emmanuel Moseley is another player who could find himself on the roster.

Moseley has played strongly all preseason, and could even be a potential starter down the road. He’s definitely upgraded his roster chances.

Jimmie Ward (stock up)

Contrary to some opinions, Jimmie Ward is not talentless. However his injury history has made it tough for him to make an impact.

We saw the upside against the Chiefs, as he drew an offensive pass interference on the Chiefs and stopped Patrick Mahomes on a scramble on third down.

Mitch Wishnowsky (stock up)

Another week and another highlight from the 49ers resident Australian/punter, with a booming 62 yard punt that he angled out just before it could go for a touchback. His power and accuracy makes him a potent weapon for reversing field position this season.
