Stock up: Jimmy Garoppolo

That was the game we needed to see. Jimmy Garoppolo looked much more like the franchise quarterback the 49ers want to see, too.

To be clear, he wasn’t perfect. Some passes were off the mark, and he threw one pass to Dante Pettis, who was in tight triple coverage, which never had a chance. But overall, it was a strong performance.

Garoppolo went 14-of-20 passing for 188 yards, a 116.5 passer rating and a beautifully weighted touchdown pass to Matt Breida. The pass finished his best drive of the game (the second drive), where he hit all four passes and drove down the field seemingly effortlessly.

While his actual stock hasn’t really gone up, as he’s the undisputed starting quarterback, his confidence raising performance still deserves a stock up regardless.
