Stock up: Jeff Wilson

With running back Jerick McKinnon a chance to start the season on injured reserve, the 49ers have a hole for the fourth running back on the roster if they choose to keep four.

If they do, Jeff Wilson has put his name all over it.

While his 3.8 yards-per-carry average isn’t all that impressive, what Wilson did do was run well in short distance situations, especially on his touchdown runs.

The 49ers need to desperately find ways to convert chances into touchdowns this year, and Wilson could fill that niche in the ground game as a potential short-yardage specialist.

While the game itself was not as impressive as others, this article is about stocks. Wilson improved his more than just about anybody by not only putting his name on a potential roster spot, but showing where he could produce on the field instead of just being a healthy scratch during games.

Stock up for Wilson, especially if he continues strong against the Chargers.
