Stock up: Mitch Wishnowsky

Much like when the 49ers drafted him, I’m going to use a slide on a punter to the shock of everyone.

While punters have to fulfill pretty lofty expectations when picked in the fourth-round, Mitch Wishnowsky has been showing every sign of meeting and even exceeding those expectations.

Wishnowsky had six punts for a 48.0-yard average, and kicked off five times for four touchbacks.

The fifth kickoff was the one which got the most attention, as Wishnowsky went full pelt down the field to lay a hard hit the Broncos kick returner:

You can see his Australian Rules Football upbringing in the hit (head coach Kyle Shanahan erroneously referred to it as Rugby, but in reality the sports aren’t the same), and it was a very well-laid tackle.

A very exciting play on what usually would be a dull preseason.
