No. 4: Tevin Coleman Adds Another Dimension

This is far from breaking news, as most knew the decision to sign former Atlanta Falcons running back Tevin Coleman was a smart one. What we didn’t know was how he would mesh with fellow backs Matt Breida and Jerick McKinnon.

Coleman appears to have answered that question with a productive training camp thus far. He added to that Monday night with three carries for 21 yards, an average of seven yards per attempt.

With the news McKinnon is dealing with some issues in his recovery from a torn ACL suffered last preseason, the Coleman signing seems like a masterstroke by the front office.

There was some question about which running back would get the bulk of the carries when the regular season begins on Sept. 8.

As the preseason marches on it seems that man might very well be Coleman.

Coleman knows Kyle Shanahan’s system well and could offer the same quality tandem along with Breida, as he did when paired with Devonta Freeman in Atlanta.
