When the 49ers selected punter Mitch Wishnowsky with their fourth-round pick in this years NFL Draft, many fans were less than impressed. With so many other holes to fill, the criticism was that the pick was a luxury the team could ill afford.

Those fans must not understand how important field position is in the game of football. One person who does understand that fact is Wishnowsky himself.

The rookie comes with many weapons that he utilized in this game, as he posted a net punt average of 49.5. That average is good for fifth overall in the  NFL after Week 1 of the preseason.

Being able to pin their opponents deep in their own territory will go a long way to contributing to the 49ers win total in 2019.

While he did have an unacceptable gaffe on a kickoff out of bounds, Wishnowsky is the real deal.
