No 2: Tight End Ross Dwelley
Ross Dwelley is a second-year undrafted tight end out of San Diego. He caught a total of two passes last season as a rookie.
He’s on the list as a possible impactful player because there is a real chance he opens the season as the No. 2 or 3 tight end behind George Kittle.
Matt Barrows, 49ers writer for The Athletic, believes that Dwelley has done enough in camp to separate himself from rookie tight end Kaden Smith, and injured tight end Garrett Celek:
The guy who's probably the frontrunner in the 49ers' TE competition (behind Kittle, of course) is Ross Dwelley, an undrafted rookie last year. Dwelley's smart. He spent the offseason in Nashville training with Kittle and C.J. Beathard.

Using two tight end sets is a common formation in head coach Kyle Shanahan‘s offensive scheme. Kittle will obviously be the premiere pass-catching tight end, but Dwelley could carve out a significant role in the offense as a blocker.
