The San Francisco 49ers are now three days deep into their 2019 training camp, so it’s time to identify and break down the three best storylines so far.

For the first time since general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan took over the San Francisco 49ers back in 2017, the team hits a training camp looking about as complete as it possibly could be.

And that’s a good thing, even if there isn’t the same kind of buzz surrounding the Niners as there was a year ago at this time.

That’s fine. While San Francisco is far from a perfect squad and has plenty of question marks leading up to Week 1 this September, there are finally overly deep units on the roster. The defensive line, for example, boasts five former first-round NFL Draft picks for four spots. Wide receiver seems to be awfully deep, too, which is great after no 49ers wideout reached 500 receiving yards in 2018.

And with deep roster units and a plethora of other developments, there are some pretty good storylines, too.

Sure, seeing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo healthy and on the field after his disastrous 2018 ACL tear is a great thing. The beefed-up defensive line, and defense overall, is grabbing the majority of headlines over these first few days as well.

All that is great, sure. But let’s hone those stories down a bit and break down the three best storylines from training camp so far. And we’ll focus on the individual players instead of team units and positions.

Hopefully these stories continue to gain momentum as training camp reaches its stride in coming days.
