No. 1: Wide Receiver Trent Taylor

Ever since he entered the league, wide receiver Trent Taylor has been one of my favorite football players. And it’s not only because he always comes to me and my group of friends after every practice to sign our things, but also because he is a great representation of an underdog.

Taylor is undersized at 5-foot-9, but that doesn’t matter to him because he’s a damn good wide receiver. He shined in his rookie year, which included a 92-yard receiving game against the Chicago Bears in Jimmy Garoppolo’s first start as a Niner back in 2017. He ended up being the X-factor in the match and helped the team win the game.

Unfortunately, Taylor had back surgery after his rookie year, which ended up greatly affecting his level of play last year. However, Taylor has entered training camp looking better than ever. He took two passes to the house today in practice, showing off the quickness Kyle Shanahan desires in his wide receivers, and the quickness that Taylor possessed in his rookie season:

Taylor was one of Garoppolo’s favorite targets when the quarterback was dicing up the league in 2017, going undefeated in his first year in San Francisco. It’s looking like the underdog will make a similar, if not greater, impact in 2019.
