Fullback: Roger Craig

Some might find it odd that Roger Craig is listed as the greatest fullback in 49ers history, but that is the position that he mostly played. He was so versatile, that Walsh had no issues with changing him back and forth to running back for a great deal of his career.

In 1985, the former Nebraska Cornhusker complied a season which saw him rush 214 times for 1,150 yards and catch 92 passes for 1,016 yards. With those numbers, he became the first back ever to reach the 1,000-yard mark in both categories in the same season.

He also scored a total of 15 touchdowns in 1985. It’s a travesty that Craig has not been elected to the Hall of Fame yet.
