No. 1: Offensive Guard Ross Reynolds

A year ago, one 49ers player to keep an eye on was the versatile offensive lineman, Erik Magnuson. But by season’s end, Magnuson seemed to fall out of favor with head coach Kyle Shanahan, eventually being relegated to the weekly inactive list.

More from SF 49ers News

One of the players potentially pushing Magnuson to the periphery is another undrafted free agent, Iowa’s Ross Reynolds, whom the Niners acquired following this year’s NFL Draft.

Reynolds was one of college football’s better run blockers last season, which helps make sense why Shanahan wanted to target him after the draft. Shanahan’s offense is, after all, still predicated on a strong running game. And San Francisco’s offensive line has been tailored to such.

Reynolds had some issues with pass protection during his college days, and he’ll need to showcase that ability better in camp.

That said, it wouldn’t be shocking at all to see Reynolds push both Magnuson and veteran guard Joshua Garnett off the 49ers regular-season roster.

Either way, Reynolds is looking like an excellent candidate to make the 53-man roster in 2019, meaning he’s easily a player worth watching this training camp.
