With OTAs and mandatory minicamps starting up, NIner Noise takes a look at five storylines which will define San Francisco 49ers training camp in a few months.
Football is back!
OK, it’s not really back. But with mandatory minicamps starting across the league, the lull of the offseason finally ends for a week or so, including for our San Francisco 49ers.
The Niners are coming off a down year marred by injuries (it feels like we say this too often), but as always, a new year brings new hope and new expectations.
This team is different than the 49ers teams you’ve seen the last two years. The offensive weapons, since they are all so versatile, have underwent significant change, while the defensive scheme, mindset and core contributors have changed as well. In short, this is a new team that’s ready to make good on the hype the Niners got last year.
That being said, there are plenty of question marks about the team, and even questions from earlier this year have not yet been answered. Will the injury bug finally bite another team? Will the defense have more than two interceptions? Training camp will provide us the beginning of the answers to these questions.
When August finally comes, these will be the questions and main talking points for the 49ers.
