Another one of the needs the 49ers didn’t spend a lot of time addressing during the offense is the offensive line.

Arguably, there are two key needs here. The interior, particularly at guard, could stand for some upgrades. And sooner than later, the Niners will need to consider replacing aging veteran left tackle Joe Staley, who also happens to be a free agent in 2020.

It’s hard to imagine Staley walking, and that’s a question for another time. That said, finding some depth for 2020, while potentially landing a long-term starter, should be a priority.

One of the names to watch is Clemson offensive lineman Sean Pollard. The 6-foot-5, 315 pounder has played both tackle and guard spots at the college level, and he has good lateral movement skills for a player of his size.

Clemson’s offensive success, particularly on the ground, the past few seasons will bode well for what’s looking to be a very good Tigers O-line in 2019.

That should help boost Pollard’s draft stock, making him a wise choice for San Francisco in Round 4.
